Don't forget to keep an eye out for the White-letter Hairstreak (in flight now), it is a surprisingly common species despite the fact that hardly anyone i know has seen one. It rarely comes down from the canopy of the Elm trees on which is spends it's entire life cycle. I have been known to pitch a ladder up the main stem of a Wych Elm to be amongst them (and Purple Hs on Oak!). A true peeping Tom i am.
Come December I'll try and post some photos of their eggs (which i search for then). It happens to be one of my hibernal hobbies. Well i had to do something. Thanks for the pictures
