Is it possible to see the scale imprints on a slow worm skin? I took this photo yesterday and saw a part of a shed skin - near red arrow. Maybe the slow worm tail nearby is the one that has just shed. Also notice the squashed slow worm top left of the image, which is alive. I wonder how that happened.

That looks like the slow-worm's not quite finished shedding, with the skin just about to slip off the end of its tail.

The sloughs quite often roll up- you can sometimes find little rings of shed skin.

I wondered if it was that. Thanks Caleb. I somehow didn't expect the scale imprint with slow worms seeming so smooth.
