Had a lizard wander into our porch today (Highland Perthshire). We get plenty of slow worms, but this is the first time I've ever seen a lizard with legs in this country at all!  Looking at the species identification pictures on the site the nearest match would be the common lizard, but though that's the nearest, it's not that near!  Can anybody confirm what it is?  And is it common in this area?  Picture is from http://www.eqc.co.uk/Lizard/Lizard.jpg - http://www.eqc.co.uk/Lizard/Lizard.jpg

It's definitely a common lizard - they are found throughout the mainland of the UK, as well as many Scottish islands, and Ireland. Still, nice to find one on your doorstep!

Cheers,

Wolfgang
