You guys will no doubt know all this, but according to an article of the BBC website a new species of grass snake has been identified in the UK.

Bear in mind it is just a reclassification of Natrix natrix subspecies helvetica to Natrix helvetica and it isn't actually confirmed yet by any official body, evidence has just been presented in a paper. The media have unfortunately got several details wrong!
 
Still exciting though!
