Well here we go again in Sudbury Suffolk we had a new Sainsbury super market built on a defunct factory sight that had a lot of natural foilage and trees and also heavy amounts of herps,Well due to a lot of hard work by George Millings our local conservationist and herpetologist he managed to obtain part of the super markets site to be designated for a nature reserve before any constucting of the store started , And over many many months of diligent unpaid work with a team of local volunteers created a wild life haven with cooperation with the supermarket and all seemed to be going well. suddenly this last few weeks the local council have unexpectedly come out with some excuse to wash their hand and want to get rid of the site with some excuses like the trees could be a danger to the public and some adjoining properties might suffer from trees shedding their branches and one particular wet counciler a mr John Sayers starting to quote the effing health and safety of the whole site and might need to employ heavy handed contractors at a cost to start some sort of clearing of all these dangerous trees and foilage , I personally can visualise some ones bent on closing this site with certain unamed individuals conspiring with who? & coming out with statements on health and safety like no one wants to take responsibility for its management , seems like some stinking under tones of some one seeing this site as a bit of valuable real estate for development, maybe the super market chain has some one in their pocket wonder who eh?    A pissed off Keith

True motive, clear the trees and sell it for development. Happens all over Keith and much the reason I've now hung up my boots and concentrate on more positive aspects of life.

Sad to hear that Gemma . funny thing there was not a issue with the trees when the factory was there. what a bunch of spineless wet pocket lining cretins the rate payers are forced to employ these days .

Keith a quick look at the Supermarket planning application on Babergh District Council's website portal shows a number of conditions (at least one relating to reptiles) and a management plan apparently secured through a section 106 agreement, so it should be legally protected.

Planning reference number is B10/01308 if you want to have a look.
