how to add a photo to your post. totally new here.

hi there

Firstly, do not use the "Quick reply" box at the bottom of the page but rather the "Post Reply" button beneath a post.

You will find a little icon like a picture of a tree in the icon bar. Click on that, and in the resulting dialog box you can either upload a photo using the section on the left, or link to an online image using that on the right. Hopefully the rest is self-explanatory.
