It's a corn snake. Check with your neighbours - it is someones pet!

Sorry I find it a bit hard to believe this corn snake would even be seen anywhere in this weather unless placed there do any of you herpos? just going by the last staged manage photo shoot blog I am sorry to be a skeptic Keith

could have been under compost or some other hibernation material then accidentally uncovered or might have been taken months ago.

I found it on the top of a potato gro bag and am completely baffled as to how it got there. But it was still alive, even in this weather. Found a good home with a local snake lover.
