Hi everyone,
I'm looking for someone who knows about the Sand Dunes at Fleetwood in Lancashire - or simply knows a lot about sand dunes.
Ideally the person would be some form of recognised 'naturalist' or an 'expert'
I work as a radio journalist in Blackpool and the council in Fleetwood have stated how they want to remove the dunes due to problems the sand creates on the new tram tracks.
I was hoping to do a quick phone interview either this morning or tomorrow morning with someone who can explain why sand dunes are such a vital habitat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave
Anne Ancell (formerly Heslop) in the dunes officer for the fylde coast she works for the Lancashire wildlife trust, it was probably her comments in the local paper, her phone no is 01253 658537 but you probably will not get hold of her until Tuesday. Sand dunes are a very emotive subject always creating conflicts of interest. For me the bigger the better with all the benifits they bring for wildlife, however from the council pont of view how embaressing was it that a tram was derailed on it's maiden run after spending millions of pounds due to sand in the tracks. Nothing new wind blown sand, as I see it the wind was coming from a direction not normally experienced thus picking up sand and moving it about into new areas. Ray
