How availability of food influences the size of snakes?
Island populations of Notechis ater have bigger individuals because they have to collect reserves of the energy - there are seasonal changes in food availability. How it would be when avalability of food is small all trough the year? Hypothetical situation: grass snake population, only food is Rana temporaria in small size of population. Size of snakes would be bigger or smaller than in population with better availability of food?
I think bigger size snakes can more effective collect energy (small animals have to eat more often than bigger), am I wright?
I apologize for my english :-)
