Amphibians: Surveying and Monitoring Techniques

Summary

A two-day course giving an introduction to amphibian biology and ecology. The programme includes a site visit, life histories of frogs, toads and newts and demonstrations of common terrestrial and aquatic monitoring techniques. Survey methods will be practised in the field at a local conservation area where great crested newts are present and mitigation techniques are in place. The course also reviews current legislation, Environmental Impact Assessment and mitigation techniques.
