I saw a dead hatchling grass snake about ten years ago at Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire. It was on 21st November and had been cold and frosty the night before, although the 21st was a sunny but wintery day. There were no obvious injuries on it, but I did wonder what it had been doing out at that time of year.
