Well as its gone quiet again,
A bit more Elvis Costello, can't ever get too much of him in my opinion. He pretty much sums up the gloom of his time and perhaps as the years go on becomes more and more poignant in the way he documented the loss of values in the UK. Found this complete Robert Johnson album recently, been listening to it over and over: Interesting how the world changed from individuals singing their woes in the 20's and 30's to an individual artist singing the countries woes in the '80s don't you think ??? |

thought Robert Johnson was cool. as were Sonny Boy Williamson (Rice Muller), Sonny Terry, Little Walter, Woody Guthrie etc.
Elvis C was brave to write as overtly political a ditty as TTDD and his covers were masterful too. EG this 1 which i initially thought was about bartering a car tyre for some chocolates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySQlU3hussQ how about some classic roots Jamaican flavour? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF3IktTk_pQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OID0h7X6hmk |

That took a while to get Nice easy link into: Quite a meaningful song to me, as I remember well hearing it soon after leaving Kennington Park on 31 March 1990... ties in nicely with the fact that Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, is Dead, Dead, Dead
