went for a visit to Dorset to do some smooth snake work; saw 4 out in the open, including these two lovely gravid ladies, reckon just a few metres from Keith's superb obs of mating smoothies earlier in the season:

I was mainly focused on smooth snakes but saw a male adder, a couple of sand lizards and some slowworms, in fact I was only lacking grass snake.

The great thing is that it shows that the CA are well established and seem pretty prolific in the area,I wonder if the lack of grass snake sightings could it be that the smooth snakes have eaten them up?

Going down to Purbeck tomorrow and hopefully find some Ca myself - it would be nice to see another one out in the open!
