I just thought I would share this with you. This is one of "my garden" Grass snakes. I have spotted him several times but never managed to get a picture. On this occasion I grabbed hold of him for one (and I must say he seemed amazingly unconcerned by the whole thing.)
Anyway, as you can see his collar has an almost orange tint and the first part of his underside is yellow rather than white. Sorry the photograph isn't too sharp. This is down to two factors a) my arm length was just about enough for focusing and b) I am probably the world's worst photographer! Chris |

I know Tim - I really don't know how I manage to cope with it!
Actually sometimes it is a pain albeit a pleasurable one - trying to avoid treading on frogs, toads and newts on the Spring evenings, everything you try and trim/prune/cut/dig over/turn over seems to have some herp or another hiding in/on/under it! But that's the kind of masochism I go for! |

Ah Dave - I was lacking them when I first dug a pond in the garden. But after a very few years of plentiful amphibians in it ... the Grassies soon sussed that there WAS such a thing as a free lunch!
So ............ be patient, you never know. Chris |
