edit - Out of interest how many people feel that this adder is over exposed or has sunlight making it look pale when it is just a normal coloured adder? Edited by herpetologic2 - 23 Nov 2012 at 2:45pm |

Hi Tim, amazing animal - surprised it has survived so long as it must stick out like the proverbial sore whatsit. It looks hypomelanistic to me, rather than a complete 'albino', but I'm no expert. Extremely rare find, in any case!

Stunning snake!
Looks like there is black in the eye which I 'think'? would make it not an albino? What happens if a black adder and a white adder mate?

General comment, We won't know whether it is gone until next year will we?
And besides, have anyone tested whether the statement is true / could be true?
Until such time as a comprehensive test has been undertaken and proven conclusively that the submission of an individual record / individual reptile could not lead to the reptile being tracked and captured then it is impossible to refute that the concept / idea is true / or could be true.
Further, Libel (for the misguided) laws are where a slanderous statement is made by an individual in writing, which impunes a third party's / another person's (possessive) reputation or / and lead others to question a third party's reputation.
So far as this thread is concerned, I haven't mentioned anyone.
I have however questioned the wisdom of a concept whereby records are sold of individual reptile's locations when just about everyone in the herp knows that there exists a black market for the illegal selling / trading of such creatures.
If the cap fits anyone, I suggest they wear it, or admit that they are wrong.

Rob,
You have singled out one recording system why not the others? NBN, Living Record, RAUK, Sliding Scales, Add an Adder, RSPB garden surveys, iSpot, Indicia, iRecord the list goes on. I take it as a dig at me to suggest that somehow the Record Pool would lead to animals being taken from the wild to be sold on the black market which there is very little evidence of such a market anyw way. So until such time that you can prove that is the case please amend your earlier statement.....
