I have slow worms in the many composts in the garden ( mostly purposely built for sw!). I noticed that one of the 2 sw's I had been seeing a lot was a lot bigger and wondered if she was about to have young. She was! And, as luck would have it, saw her giving birth. Left her alone to get in with it. However when my son and I next looked much later on in the day, there were about 4-5 still in their egg sacs, and only one live young ( that we could see) . I was wondering if they were too near the surface and got too hot before they managed to emerge? What was an exciting event turned a bit sad. Hopefully there are many more that I don't see, all doing their thing.
