Hello -

Out on a cycle over the Devils Punchbowl in Surrey at lunchtime and came across this small adder behaving quite oddly. It was, to all extents and purposes, rolling laterally. My first guess is that it is trying to play dead but hasn't quite got the hang of it and after flipping on its back then rolls back over on to its belly and tries again.

It appeared completely uninjured and when we returned this way a few minutes later had gone.

I have a video but struggling to get it off my phone - will try again later.

Looks as if its just been run over and is writhing in agony/ death throes. Possibly by a bicycle
